Reds Lose to Mets, 8-5
The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 8-5, at Citi Field today. Leading the charge for New York was second baseman Jonathan Jenkins. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. New York reliever Sam Schrecengost picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. David James was saddled with the loss. Ron Hawkins converted his 4th save in 5 tries.

Jenkins had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-2 fastball from David James, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Mets a 8-5 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Jenkins.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Al S said.

The Reds, at 38-35, have lost 9 straight games.
