						The San Francisco Giants topped the Chicago Cubs, 7-4, in National League action at Wrigley Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of San Francisco pitcher Curt Howland. Andrew Kindig, credited with the save, is now 20 for 21 in save opportunities. The win elevated the Giants to 45-28.
  Howland, a native of Sunnyvale, California, was dealing all game. He kept Chicago hitters off-balance, while giving the Giants 8.1 quality innings. Howland threw 112 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 9. 
  "We cashed in when we had the chance," said San Francisco manager Jobo Foster.
