The Montreal Expos started the Division Series in dominant fashion today, blowing out the host Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre by a score of 11-1 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Expos catcher Eugênio Asceno hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice.

Montreal used the bat of C.J. Beavers to capture the win. The right fielder jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Expos ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"Every team in baseball loses," Blue Jays manager Max Meany said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
