Pirates Dominate, Sweep League Championship Series
The San Diego Padres were simply overmatched by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the League Championship Series.

The end result was a sweep, as Pittsburgh has cruised to the World Series, with the final win coming at PNC Park by a score of 2-1.

"We're clicking and running on all cylinders at the moment," said Mike Bates, who was named MVP of the League Championship Series. "We're a dangerous team when we play like this."

For the series, Bates hit .267 with a .353 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Pittsburgh Pirates don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Montreal Expos - New York Yankees series. Montreal leads the series 3 games to 1. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
