Marlins Lose to Nationals, 9-3
|
The Washington Nationals defeated the Miami Marlins, 9-3. Doing his part was center fielder Andre Gorter, who went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Julio Pizano. He's now 2-1. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits for the Nationals. The Nationals raised their record to 37-49.
Washington capitalized on an error in the bottom of the fourth inning. Washington was trailing 2-1 when Dan Fallon hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Washington in front, 3-2.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Fallon, "and go after the next one."
