Angels Lose to Blue Jays, 7-5
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the California Angels, 7-5, in American League action at Rogers Centre. The game was highlighted by the performance of Toronto pitcher Timo Lantinga. Lantinga, now 4-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Junpei Yamazaki earned his 10th save in 11 chances.
David Casas, who finished 2nd in the AL in stolen bases with 60 in 2041, chipped in for Toronto with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"It was our day today," Casas told the Toronto Herald. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
With the win, Toronto upped its record to 58-34.
