Reds Lose to White Sox, 5-3
|
The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at U.S. Cellular Field, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3. Starting pitcher Felix Bernal was a big reason why. In 8 innings, Bernal surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Zach Ault was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 21 save opportunities.
Joseph Disepolo, who finished 3rd in the AL in wins above replacement with 7.8 last year, aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Disepolo. "Winning helps."
The American League Central Division-leading White Sox are 59-34.
