Mike Becerra put on a hitting clinic today as the Columbus Reds dumped the New Jersey Devils 23-0 at Field of the Devils.

The Columbus left fielder made New Jersey defenders earn their pay, lashing New Jersey pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Becerra said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."

Mike Becerra singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Antonio Davila in the 8th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

For the season Becerra is hitting .217, batted in 21 runs with 8 home runs and 24 runs scored.
