Phillies Win at Washington, 4-1
|
Philadelphia picked up a win at Nationals Park, bumping off the Washington Nationals, 4-1. Pitcher James Woods Jr. was a major reason the Phillies emerged victorious. Woods Jr. picked up the win for Philadelphia, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-8. The Phillies raised their record to 40-56.
Philadelphia used the bat of Osamu Kubo to capture the win. The designated hitter jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Phillies ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Kubo.
