15-K Masterpiece for Campbell
|
Everything was working for Joel Campbell today at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The fastball was working.
In an unforgettable performance, the 27-year-old Campbell fanned 15 Twins and sparked the California Angels to a 4-2 victory over Minnesota. He left Twins hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.
"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said California manager Dakota Wise. "His location and command were really something."
In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 6 innings, Campbell allowed 1 hit and 1 walk in a superlative outing.
"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Campbell said with a smile.
This season Campbell has picked up 1 save and posted a 1-4 record with a 2.56 ERA. He has 18 relief appearances, tossed 52.2 innings and struck out 68.
