It wasn't easy but Marty Nelson made it look that way.

Nelson silenced the Joplin Blasters, 10-0, in a Amarillo ThunderHeads triumph at Joplin Baseball Complex today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Nelson said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up no walks and 2 hits.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."

This year Nelson has a 4-0 mark in 8 starts with a 3.96 ERA. He has given up 41 hits in 50 innings, struck out 55 and issued 16 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .215 batting average against him.
