Brewers Prevail, 5-4, Over New York
|
In a close game at Miller Park, the Milwaukee Brewers edged the New York Mets, 5-4. Milwaukee shortstop Ben Campbell stood apart with his performance. He was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles. Milwaukee pitcher John York got the win, upping his record to 9-8. Jeff Jank got the loss. The Brewers saw their win-loss record go to 46-57. At the same time, the Mets fell to 49-54.
The Brewers got a big at-bat from second baseman Jean-François Bernard. For the game, Bernard went 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 14th double of the season gave Milwaukee a 5-4 lead.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Bernard.
