Nationals Lose By a Run at Miami, 5-4
|
The Miami Marlins beat the Washington Nationals, 5-4, at Marlins Park. Mike Gar, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Oscar Banda. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 3. John Dinsmore converted his 15th save in 20 tries.
Gar contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Miami in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Gar took a changeup from Dale Ahernfeld and stroked the double to center. His 26th double of the season allowed the Marlins to leap in front, 3-2.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Gar.
Miami now has a 3-game win streak.
