The New York Yankees powered past the Houston Astros, 13-2, at Minute Maid Park. Evan Torraville went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4, to lead the charge. Francisco Rivas picked up the win, improving his season record to 9-5. He struck out 9 in 7.2 innings. With the win, New York upped its record to 60-45.

With New York leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Torraville hit a changeup from Paul Schwartz for a 2-run home run. It was his 30th home run of the season and put the Yankees ahead, 4-0.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said New York skipper Vince Deyzel.
