Giants Stumble, Lose to Cardinals
|
St. Louis first baseman Tenshou Takita played a vital role in his team's 8-3 triumph over San Francisco. He was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for St. Louis. Antonio Lacayo picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 9-6. Bryan Banana recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 6 for 10.
In the top of the sixth, Takita put his team in front with his 24th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which came against Keith Kidd, made it 2-1, St. Louis.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Takita said.
The last-place Cardinals raised their record to 50-59.
