Minnesota and Detroit duked it out and the Twins came out victorious.
The Minnesota Twins topped the Detroit Tigers, 5-2, in American League action at Comerica Park. The standout performance belonged to Minnesota pitcher and Ostermundingen, Switzerland, native Steffen Joseph. Joseph got the win, improving to 2-3. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Joseph allowed 2 runs. Jim Storer, credited with the save, is now 2 for 5 in save opportunities.
Minnesota used a well-timed hit by Kevin Howard to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Twins ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Howard.
The win has Minnesota at 40-66.
