Miami starter Oscar Banda pitched well against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-0. Banda, the winner, moves to 8-10. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. The second-place Marlins lifted their record to 53-57.
Mike Gar tagged a home run off Scott Bernstein in the top of the second. His 2-run blast put the Marlins on top, 2-0. In all, Gar had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
