Pirates Beat Reds, 5-2
|
Pittsburgh and Cincinnati duked it out and the Pirates came out victorious.
The Pittsburgh Pirates racked up a win at PNC Park, bumping off the Cincinnati Reds, 5-2. Isaac Spikes, who started for Pittsburgh, pitched effectively for his team. J.J. Sykes was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.
Bubba Tierney dealt the Reds a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Pittsburgh leading 2-0, Tierney, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2043 draft, hit a 0-1 changeup for a 2-run triple.
"Isaac -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Pirates manager Kevin Giles. "He was the key to us winning."
Pittsburgh now has a record of 68-42 with the win.
