Athletics Waste Great Game from Kawachi
|
The Oakland Athletics got a superb performance from center fielder Muneo Kawachi, but the Minnesota Twins still won the game, 5-4. Kawachi was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Minnesota reliever Steffen Joseph picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Franklin Rojas shouldered the loss. Jimmy Seager earned his 3rd save in 5 chances.
In the bottom of the third, Kevin Howard delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Minnesota third baseman hit a 3-run home run, putting the Twins in front, 5-4.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Twins manager Patrick Slack. "This one was nice to get."
The win has Minnesota at 43-67.
