The Montreal Expos topped the New York Yankees by a score of 6-5. Leading the way was second baseman Hugo Bautista. Bautista went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Expos. Montreal reliever Elliott Payne picked up the win to move to 2-0. Isaias Chavez suffered the loss. Joel Montenegro, credited with the save, is now 19 for 21 in save opportunities.

Bautista had a timely hit for Montreal in the bottom of the seventh. With New York trailing 5-4, he turned a 1-2 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 29th home run of the season, making it 6-5, Montreal.

"Ah, the sweet taste of victory," Bautista crowed after the game.

The victory gives Montreal a record of 78-46.
