Kansas City catcher Mike Meyerhoff had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Meyerhoff went 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Baltimore beat the Royals, 10-8. Chris Dauphin converted his 10th save in 14 tries. Kansas City has now lost 6 straight.

In the bottom of the sixth, Baltimore designated hitter Ernesto Cedillos gave his team the lead. With two out and the bases loaded, Booker hit his 8th home run of the year. Kansas City pitcher Josh Moncada surrendered it. With that, the Orioles jumped in front, 9-8.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Cedillos said.
