The Houston Astros got a superb performance from pitcher Mat Pear, but the Detroit Tigers still won the game, 4-3. Pear threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Wayne McAllister, now 4-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The second-place Tigers have won 4 in a row.

The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Detroit trailing 3-1, Tyler Davis jumped on a 1-2 fastball from Aaron Shapiro for a 3-run home run, sending the Tigers to a walk-off win.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Davis said.
