Big Day for Martin in 9-5 Braves Win
|
The Atlanta Braves downed the Washington Nationals, 9-5, at Turner Field. The Braves were led by Jordan Martin. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Atlanta pitcher David Matheney got the win. He's now 3-1. Marquise Barretti was tagged with the loss. The National League East Division-leading Braves are 68-62.
Jeckel Hester, who finished 2nd in the AL in stolen bases with 73 in 2037, aided the Atlanta cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman went 2-5 with a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Martin.
