New York designated hitter David Bramble had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Miami Marlins, 8-5. The winner in relief was Chris McCoy. He is now 4-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Joel Pacheco earned his 33rd save in 34 chances.

New York used a clutch hit from Dan Morris to get the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said New York skipper Vince Deyzel.

The victory gives New York a record of 72-63.
