In a low-scoring clash between Miami and New York, pitcher Mike Powell was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 win. Miami pitcher Tim Poist got the win, upping his record to 3-2. Chris Thurner got the loss. Miami is 67-73 and New York, with the loss, 68-71.

Miami won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Chris Thurner on the mound for New York, first baseman Micah Christopher hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Marlins fans to their feet.
