Dominant Performance by Morante in California Win
|
California and Houston played a hard-fought contest.
The California Angels went home winners at Minute Maid Park, thanks in large part to starter Gus Morante. Morante stifled the Houston Astros, enabling California to grab the 3-1 win. Today's win puts California at 59-83, while Houston falls to 50-93.
Morante's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 8 strikeouts in 7 innings while allowing 2 hits. Morante, the 12th overall pick in the 2041 draft, goes to 5-8 on the year with 106 strikeouts.
"I liked his command," said California manager Dakota Wise. "Gus was throwing strikes."
