Rangers Lose to Diamondbacks, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers, pitcher Tim Wybenga was masterful on the mound. The Arizona left-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. Wybenga, now 9-5, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Mario Valdivia converted his 6th save in 11 tries.
Alec Thorpe, the six-time Great Glove Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Thorpe contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Arizona up, 2-1.
"Tim is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Arizona manager Jose Quintana.
The win elevated the Diamondbacks to 87-60.
