The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Washington Nationals, 4-1. Philadelphia pitcher and Cherkasy, Ukraine, native Marko Emchenko led the way. Jamie Verberkmoes was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 23 save opportunities. The Phillies move to 64-84 with the win, while the Nationals drop to 62-87.
Jeff Luvisi helped out the Philadelphia cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the right fielder went 1-3 with a walk.
