Nishizawa 4-5, Leads Brewers to Win
|
Busch Stadium was the site for National League action featuring the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers.
Behind a fine performance from Akitada Nishizawa, the Milwaukee Brewers knocked off the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-5. Nishizawa was 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Brewers. Milwaukee pitcher Dave Bible got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Geoff Mooney got the loss. Getting the save was Zach Purvis, his 13th.
Nishizawa had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-2 fastball from Geoff Mooney, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Brewers a 7-5 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for Nishizawa.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Nishizawa told the Milwaukee Observer.
At 73-79, the Brewers find themselves in third place in the National League Central Division.
