San Diego Padres starter Randolph Rayner hurled his team past the Cincinnati Reds, 5-2. The victory gives San Diego a record of 102-52.

San Diego used a well-timed hit by Andy Sheridan to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Padres ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Rayner said.
