Cubs Best Pirates in Pitching Duel
|
Wrigley Field was the site of a competitive game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs.
Chicago picked up a win at Wrigley Field, toppling the Pittsburgh Pirates, 1-0. Pitcher Steve DiDomenico was one of the reasons the Cubs triumphed. George Poirier earned save number 37 this season.
In the bottom of the fifth, Chicago shortstop Yasuhide Kasahara had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Kasahara stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 1-0, Chicago. For the game, he was 1 for 4.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Kasahara.
Chicago goes to 81-75, Pittsburgh to 100-56.
