Blue Jays Bridle Expos, 4-2
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Montreal Expos, 4-2, in American League action at Rogers Centre. The standout performance belonged to Toronto pitcher and Guanare, Venezuela, native Tony Rios. The save went to Junpei Yamazaki, his 25th this season. With the win, the Blue Jays hiked their record to 111-49.
Nate Dean, who finished 4th in the AL in slugging percentage with .614 in 2042, aided the Toronto cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. For the game, the shortstop drove in one run.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Toronto manager Max Meany.
