Royals Earn 7-6 Win Versus Indians
|
The Kansas City Royals beat the Cleveland Indians, 7-6, in part because of third baseman Mikolas Markus. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Asa Hahn recorded his 1st save for Kansas City. Cleveland now has a record of 1-3.
Kansas City used the clutch hitting of Gil Switzer to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Royals the lead, 7-6. For the game, Switzer had 1 single and 1 double in 3 at-bats.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cleveland manager Don Indians. "But we decided not to take it."
