Behind a fine performance from Dave Barefoot, the Cincinnati Reds knocked off the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-1. Barefoot was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs for the Reds. The loss puts St. Louis at 3-9.

The Reds got a big hit from left fielder Fred Slade. In the bottom of the fifth, Slade pounded a 2-run home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season put the Reds ahead, 3-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Cincinnati manager Jimmy Silveira II.
