Indians Stun Expos, 3-1
|
Cleveland Indians starter Bruce Poff turned in a top-notch performance against the Montreal Expos at Progressive Field. The result was a win for the Indians, 3-1. Juan Flores earned save number 1 this season. The Indians, with just their 3rd win in 14 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Stu Sornson came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Montreal pitcher Jeff Urry, he hit a 0-2 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Cleveland on top, 3-1.
"Bruce is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Cleveland manager Austin Green.
