Padres Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Oakland Athletics and San Diego Padres provided some drama for the home crowd.
Padres designated hitter Aaron LeBlanc put his stamp on his team's 6-5 win over the Oakland Athletics. LeBlanc went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times for San Diego in the contest. Bryce Cleavinger earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0.
San Diego used the timely hitting of Jose Morrissey to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Padres on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," LeBlanc told the San Diego Times.
The Padres, now 17-3, have hit the ground running this season.
