Thrilling Win Pushes University of Southern California to Next Round
Ray Paul said he knew he would have to be a difference-maker in the Wildcard.

He was exactly that, as the University of Southern California Trojans left-hander was instrumental to his club's 10-2 win over the Louisiana State University Tigers to advance to the Quarter-Finals.

"You want the ball in that type of game, definitely," he said. "One game, with everything on the line? That's what you dream about as a kid."

Paul threw 5 innings, collecting 4 strikeouts while allowing 1 hit, 3 walks and 2 runs.

"He was good, we've got to give him credit," said Louisiana State University manager Bud Norris.

The University of Southern California Trojans will play against the University of Conneticut Huskies in the next round. University of Conneticut had a bye in the Wildcard.
