Pirates Stumble, Lose to Mets
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets get after it.
Pittsburgh had no answer for New York Mets hurler Jeff Jank, who overwhelmed Pirates hitters as the Mets coasted to victory, 8-0. Jank picked up the win for New York, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 2-3.
With two out in the bottom of the second, Scott Bartholomew barreled up a fastball from Isaburo Ishihara. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Mets in front, 3-0.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Bartholomew.
Pittsburgh drops to 10-11.
