Giants Beat Nationals, 4-3
|
The Washington Nationals got a superb performance from pitcher Tim Wybenga, but the San Francisco Giants still won the game, 4-3. Wybenga threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. San Francisco reliever Josh Lister got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Rafael Silva was tagged with the loss. Andrew Kindig closed the game out for San Francisco, earning his 8th save.
Had Jack Henningar not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Henningar hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Giants.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Washington skipper Mike Shore, "and it cost us."
The defeat makes Washington 12-9.
