Gorter Slugs Marlins to 10-5 Win
|
Miami center fielder Andre Gorter had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-5. Mike Powell, the winner, improved to 3-1. He held the Cardinals to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. St. Louis, at 6-17, is off to a poor start in 2046.
In the first inning, Gorter had a run-scoring double for Miami. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Marlins on top, 1-0.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Gorter. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
