Mets Beat Phillies, 7-4
|
The New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies completed their game despite the rain.
The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 7-4. New York shortstop Nelle van den Berg deserved the lion's share of the credit. van den Berg was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Mets. Victor Morin snagged the win in relief. In 2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 1-1 on the season. The save went to Chris Thurner, number 6 for him.
Early in the game, van den Berg had a 3-run home run for New York. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Mets on top, 3-0.
"We're all smiles after that win," van den Berg told the New York Observer.
The defeat makes Philadelphia 12-16.
