Memphis Takes Wildcard Series in Deciding Game Tuesday, October 2nd , 2046 The Memphis Redbirds are heading to the Division Championship, having narrowly defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes. Memphis edged Albuquerque in the series 2-1, with a win at AutoZone Park in the clinching game by a 7-3 margin. Ichiro Toyota turned in a strong offensive performance for the Redbirds and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a World Series win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Toyota continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .545 with a .615 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Division Championship matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wildcard Series finishes. |
