Thompson Sensational, 5-for-5 Friday, January 19th , 2046 Even as a kid, Tom Thompson said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Roger Dean Stadium today, Thompson showed how well he learned that lesson. The 23-year-old left fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Jupiter Hammerheads, helping his team knock off the Clearwater Threshers by a score of 9-8. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Tom Thompson singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. So far this year Thompson is hitting .304 with 3 home runs. |
