Hit Parade: Hoover Gets Cycle
Monday, December 24th , 2046
Requiring speed, power and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Joe Hoover, consider that test passed.
The 23-year-old center fielder hit for the cycle at Calvin Falwell Field today to lead the Bradenton Marauders to a 8-7 win over the High Desert Mavericks. All told, Hoover delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."
Joe Hoover singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Chris Wood in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 11th.
So far this season Hoover has 2 home runs and a .256 batting average.
