Hudson Valley Second Baseman Bernier Will Retire
Tuesday, October 10th , 2045
His Hudson Valley Renegades teammates were not terribly surprised when Pat Bernier announced his retirement today.

In a low-key affair, Bernier explained his rationale.

"My aches and pains have caught up with me. They don't seem to go away like they used to when I was a kid," he said. "I'm spending more and more time in the trainer's room and less and less time preparing for my next game. I've come to a realization that I've done what I can in this game and spending more time playing baseball is just stealing from my future self."

When asked, the team manager noted "Pat has always been an honest man and when he says he's done, well, he's done."

During his career Bernier is hitting .270 with a total of 67 home runs.
