Baker 5-for-6 Against Eugene
Thursday, August 23rd , 2046
After a 5-hit effort to lead Williamsport's 16-3 victory over the Eugene Emeralds, catcher Josh Baker told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the New York-Penn League-level is really something special."
The 25-year-old player earned his accolades today at Bowman Field with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Emeralds.
"His swing is getting there," said Crosscutters skipper David Stinson, who spoke glowingly of Baker after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Josh did that to perfection today."
Josh Baker hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Eddie Panagos in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Du Kim in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
So far this year Baker has hit .228 with 16 home runs, 58 RBIs and 48 runs scored.
