Fruit Goes 5-for-7 Against Chicago (APP)
Monday, October 15th , 2046
Helena catcher Chris Fruit could do no wrong in today's 22-3 win over the Cubs as he collected 5 hits.
"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Cubs skipper Jose Sixtos said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."
Fruit agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.
"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
Chris Fruit grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Trevor Woodbury in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This season in 46 games Fruit is batting .358 with 19 home runs, 59 RBIs and has scored 54 times.
