Stevenson Stretches Hit String to 20

John Stevenson, center fielder for the Grand Junction Rockies, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 1 hit in his club's 14-8 victory today over the San Diego (APP) Padres at Suplizio Field today.
"I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." John Stevenson flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Mike Swenson in the 8th.
In his stats this season, Stevenson has posted a batting average of .351 with 177 hits in 504 at-bats, 53 home runs and 171 RBIs. He has also scored 210 runs, walked 136 times and compiled a .495 OBP.
