French Clips Nationals for Cycle Friday, December 23rd , 2044 Tampa Bay (WIN)'s Steve French accomplished what few others have done -- he hit for the cycle, collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game. For the day, French finished 4-for-5 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored and helped the Rays knock off the Washington (WIN) Nationals 9-6 at Space Coast Stadium. "I didn't even know I was about to hit for the cycle until after," French told reporters following the game. "One of the guys mentioned it when I got back to the dugout." Steve French doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Mike Tracy in the 4th, hit a three-run triple in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and singled in the 8th. This year French has 2 home runs and a .330 batting average. |
