Montero Mows Down 17 Cubs
Wednesday, January 3rd , 2046
Everything was working for Santiago Montero today at Sloan Park. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The changeup was working.
In an unforgettable performance, the 22-year-old Montero fanned 17 Cubs and sparked the Los Angeles (WIN) Dodgers to a 6-0 victory over Chicago (WIN). He left Cubs hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.
"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Los Angeles (WIN) manager Alex Abbott. "His location and command were really something."
In addition to collecting 17 strikeouts over 8.2 innings, Montero allowed 1 hit and 2 walks in a superlative outing.
"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Montero said with a smile.
This season Montero has a 2-2 record with a 3.24 ERA in 7 starts.
